Yeah, guess I coulda saved a lot trouble if I'd called you guys before I left LA, but the whole trip was such a last minute thing and I was so excited... hell, before I knew it Jason and I were on the bus. Anyway, after we'd missed both of our screenings, we decided to make the most of where we were, which wasn't so bad after all... here's a pic of the motel we stayed at. Believe it or not we had this whole place to ourselves...

There's also a cool place to eat called the Durango Inn... great Bar B Q pork and plenty of cold beer, so Jason and I pretty much had all a guy needs when he's lost in Texas. And the local Durango law enforcement are a pretty decent bunch, just don't pee on their sacred indian artifacts, they take that stuff pretty serious. (I swear it looked like an old bathtub out back of the Durango Inn and NOT a pre-columbian, native american, armadillo jerky oven). BTW - did you know that Durango Texas used to be called West Falls, and according to local lore the town changed its name to Durango like a hundred years ago when a drunken cowboy who had recently returned from Mexico insisted that he was in Durango Mexico. Kinda makes a guy think... if that cowboy had come from up north instead of Mexico, that town just might've changed its name to Tulsa instead of Durango and I just might've made it to Colorado, maybe...Anyway, thanks again for showing the movie. Don

Durango Film Festival Days 3, 4, 5 & 6

Hello All,
JP here... After reading Don's and Jason's blog posts from day 1 & 2 of the festival, we of course attempted to call Don several times to alert him to the fact that he and Jason had inadvertently travelled to the wrong Durango. Unfortunately, our calls went straight to voicemail, a sure sign that Don's phone was either turned off, out of power, or out of service range. And with no futher blog posts from Don or Jason on the Durango B-side website (perhaps they were having laptop issues as well..?) and no communication from them over the following 3 days, we could only hope that they had discovered their error for themselves and were en-route to the correct Durango, in Colorado, and we tried to convince ourselves that surely this must be the case... that is until we got a call from Anita late last night. She was pretty keyed up and distressed over a voicemail she'd received regarding Jason and Don's whereabouts, and she was at a loss about what to do next. I asked her to forward the voicemail to me so I could help try to make sense of it. And now, in hindsight, considering that we are talking about Don Wimmer, I guess it should've been no surprise. Here's the voicemail. You decide.

After contacting the authorities in Texas and wiring the requisite cash, Don & Jason were placed on a bus headed for Los Angeles, which means they should be home in about 37 hours... give or take an hour or so.

Durango Film Festival Blog Post Numero Uno!

Hello Durango!  We're finally here! The bus ride from LA took like 37 hours, but at least we made it on time for our first screening.  I gotta admit, this place looks so different in person than it does on the web... flatter for sure.  Somebody told me there was skiing here, but I can't even see the mountain.  Must be a shuttle somewhere for that.  I'll ask the desk clerk at the motel... nice enough guy...  even brought a cot in the room for Jason and didn't charge us for the extra person in a single room, which is pretty cool.  The TV only gets 5 channels though, and 3 are in spanish.  Weird or what? Anyway, me and Jason have been trying to figure out how to get to the Abbey Theater for the 3pm screening of Dropping In, but we can't seem to even find the street it's supposed to be on.  We're on some road called Farm Road number 935... pretty sure the festival's gonna be nearby... probably a shuttle to take us there too.  I'll ask the desk clerk, nice enough guy, but I don't think he's from around here, seems really uninformed, not too bright actually... doesn't even seem to know about the film festival.  Weird.  Anyway, time to go find the Abbey Theater.  More from beautiful Durango Texas tomorrow!
